I had a scan at 8.5 weeks after spotting last year and the baby was there but measured 6 weeks and there was no heartbeat, the sonographer said i may have had my dates wrong and the heart just had not quite started yet but i knew i was 8.5 weeks …, i had a similar experience, but no bleeding, just a lot of left side pain. I thought i was 6 wks and on the ultrasound there was just the gs and ys, and measuring 5 wks. a week later had another ultrasound and there was a full heartbeat at 122 bpm dating 6 wks and 5 days. And this was thru an abdominal ultrasound. Never had a vaginal one., Posts: 621. I also have a tilted uterus and was unable to hear the heartbeat at 12 weeks, didn't hear it till 13. I did however get to see the heartbeat with regular ultrasound at 12 weeks. It was so tiny then that I'm not sure how you could see it at 8 weeks, it's just a little crumb.
