I know my mistake was after I hit convert I didn’t hit the save to file button which then directs where to put the save. i found the online one to be the easiest here.

It works perfectly fine for me. I save the game (it saves it to folder 0), I edit the save in the save editor. I can increase attack up, endurance, etc, and it all works perfectly fine. The only thing I would suggest is to not enter a number higher than it allows or it won't save it. In check point when you look at your save states it should be 0-7. 0 should be the manual save 1 is the most recent auto save. 2 second recent auto save and so on.
