Is it better to get hearts or stamina in Botw? Raise stamina early. It's far more useful. You can cook meals that give you a couple extra hearts if you need them. Once you have a second stamina bar, go back to hearts until you have the 12 needed for the master sword, then go back to stamina until it's maxed out.
