Marlin 39a firing pin

An assembly line worker can't take the time to smooth burrs, etc like he once could. Overall the fit and finish on the new ones is good. There are and were exceptions to this. I see no great difference in accuracy between my 67 vintage 39A and my newer ones. The action on the older one is smoother.

IMO the hammer's not designed for that solid metal on metal impact which is coushined when the firing pin strikes the brass cartridge rim when live firing. The firing pin floats in the bolt and depending on how clean the channel is that the pin rides in it will sometimes keep the firing pin from moving freely. With that info you can now go to the next show and keep buying 39A's till the funds run out. Have fun.The main spring, on the new rifles, is pretty heavy so you may have some gunk in firing pin channel. You should not find any firing problems, with any manufacturers ammo. You can have extraction problems, with match ammo because of the rim thickness. Break down the receiver, pull the bolt and the firing pin is in plain view laying in a groove along the top of the bolt. Remove the old broken firing pin, clean the groove and put in a bit of lube.
