Micro-Groove Barrel. The two-letter code on the left side near the receiver is KG. The serial number on the upper tang is MR00875C.

Any help will be ..., I have a 1957 39A with the letter "P" (early 1957) in the serial number, plainly struck and not a partial "R" (late 1957). I don't see it on your list but did find it over at the Marlin Firearms Collector Association site. On their list compared to yours between 1957 and 1964 there are several lettered differences as noted., I have an older model 39A with a strange v shaped flip up rear sight. It looks like a poorly stamped serial number, starting with the letter "C" and about 4 or 5 digits. Thing is that the Barrel is marked as "39" not 39A, was this normal? It is too short. 39A's had a one piece rear sight up to about 1970 I think. The forearm is a slightly modified forearm.
